Beadingschool Contest 2021

Would you like to shine and show the bead world what you can make? 

Nearly a year has gone since the 1. Storytelling Beading Contest 2020 and a lot of changes took place in the meantime. Beadingschool.com by Erika Sandor was born and lots of new beaders joined our beading family.
We’ve all learned a lot together and it’s time to show what you can do!

We hereby announce the 2. year of our beading contest!

You can join in 3 categories:

  1. Beadingschool colors category
  2. Bead embroidery category
  3. Preciosa crystal category

 

Categories:

The main sponsor of the Beadingschool Contest is Matubo Beads.

    1. Beadingschool colors category
      You can enter this category with a jewel made of one of the Beadingschool designs AND using at least one color of the Beadingschool mandala (any shade of turquoise, yellow, or fuchsia). You can combine these with any other colors.
      It has to be bead weaving, not bead embroidery.
      Sponsor of category: Beadsmith
    2. Bead embroidery category
      – using an L2Studio cabochon. You can enter with jewelry of a Beadingschool design or your own, not from another designer. Your jewel must feature an L2Studio art cabochon.

    3. Preciosa crystal category
      You can enter this category with jewelry of a Beadingschool design or your own (but not of another designer) using Preciosa crystals. It has to be bead weaving, not bead embroidery.
      The jewel must contain:
      – at least 3 Preciosa cabochons,
      – and Preciosa bicone beads and/or pearls.

Rules:

    1. You can apply with one jewel per category.
      One jewel means: a pair of earrings, one bracelet, necklace or headpiece, etc. – not a complete set. Once you send in the photo of the jewel, it’s not possible to change it for another one.
    2. The deadline is 20. July 2021, midnight, Central European Time. Please check and adapt this to your own time zone. You can enter the contest with a photo of your own handmade jewel made between 1. June 2021 and 20. July 2021.
    3. As the competition is anonymous, please make sure that you don’t place any logo or signature on the image.
    4. You can enter by uploading the photo of your jewel through the special Beading Contest contact form on this page.
      It’s not possible to enter the contest by sending an email.
      Please fill out the contact form carefully – it’s your own responsibility to provide full and correct details.
    5.  After filling out the contact form you’ll see a confirmation message. If you don’t see a confirmation, please try one more time.

6. Winners will be selected by a jury consisting of world-known designers:
Helena Tang-Lim (Manek-Manek Beads),
Heather Kingsley-Heath (Heatherworks),
and Sian Nolan (Beadwork by Sian).

7. Aspects to consider:
–  technical execution,
– colors (can’t be identical to the colors used in one of the kits or shown as one of the samples made by Erika),
 – photography,
 – extra points for originality. (Example: expanding a design that was originally used as simple earrings into a bracelet or a necklace.)

8. Prizes can’t be exchanged for money or other goods.

9. By entering the competition you agree to the rules of the competition.
In case of questions please write an email to [email protected]. We reserve the right to expand (but not to change) the rules to answer questions that might arise.

10. Your photos might be used by Beadingschool.com by Erika Sandor or one of our partners to share news and information about the contest.

11. Winners will be announced during International Beading Week 2021 (24. July – 1. August 2021).

12. Please don’t publish your jewel online until it is published by Beadingschool.com.

13. Please remember that even if this is a contest, the most important thing is to have fun, inspire, learn, and get inspired. Please, keep the good spirit even if you don’t win or if you don’t agree with the results.
