The following Art Deco design was created for the ongoing Beadingschool Academy theme, by Zuzi Hake.
She worked with beads selection from the Beadingschool Academy box, aiming for a simple design. The result is a light, not too complicated look with the geometrical elements and symmetry.
The motif itself was originally designed for earrings, but it can be also a nice connector in a bracelet or necklace.

R15 – 15/0 Miyuki round seed beads
C11 – 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads
BUG – Miyuki Slender bugle beads
RS6 – 6 mm /ss 30 Preciosa sew-on rhinestone
BIC4 – 4 mm Preciosa bicone bead
Optional – bezelled 8mm Preciosa chaton, rivoli or Nacre cabochon, drop, pendant, charm, to decorate the motif.
Pick up RS6 + BUG + R15 + BIC4 + R15 + BUG.
Pass through the nearest hole in the RS6 setting.
Pick up (2) BUG + R15 + BIC4 + R15 + (2) BUG.
Pass through the hole in RS6 setting to form 2 opposing “windows”.
Exiting from RS6, pick up BUG + R15 + BIC4 + R15 and pass through the BUG, back to RS6.
Pick up BUG + R15 + BIC4 + R15 and pass through the BUG, to RS6.
Navigate the thread through the BUG on top of the motif.
Pick up BUG + R15 + BUG.
Bead through R15 + BIC4 + R15 + BUG + BIC4 + BUG + R15 + BIC4 + R15. (Note I skipped R15s next to the bottom BIC4.)
Pick up BUG + R15 + BUG.
Pass through the R15 + BIC4 + R15.
Following step shows strengthening the inner “windows” of the motif.
Pass with your thread and needle through first group of BUGs, skipping R15s as shown on the drawing.
Pass through BIC + R15.
Pass with your thread through the second group of BUGs, skipping R15.
Following step shows strengthening the outer “window” of the motif.
Pass with your thread and needle through (2) BUG + R15 + BIC4 + R15 + BUG + BIC4 + BUG + R15 + BIC4 + R15 + (2) BUG + R15 + BIC4.
You’re exiting from BIC4.
Pick up (5) C11 and pass to BIC4 to create a loop.
Pass through (2) C11, skip the C11 in the middle and pass through last (2) C11.
Navigate your thread as shown on the picture.
Pass through R15 + (3) C11.
Pick up suitable number of beads to comfortably hang the ear wire. Repeat the thread path to strengthen the connection.
Pass through the middle C11 + (2) C11, keep passing through beads to find a secure spot for the knot and trim.
After you finish the motif find a secure spot to knot the tail of the thread from Step 1.
The middle C11 above BIC4 allows you to add a bezel to decorate the earring.
Use 22 C11 for creating peyote bezel for 8mm Preciosa chaton or rivoli – follow free “Forget-me-not” tutorial.

Add C11 or other seed beads to create a loop on the bottom of the motif and hang a pearl, drop, or other decorative components.
