This post is labelled as part of the series Monday Monologue. I know it’s not Monday, but I need to talk to you. NOW.
The day before yesterday I shared some insider’s information with the followers of my Facebook page, together with a sneak peek of the thing I am working on nowadays. Surprisingly, it wasn’t beadwork, but it is the main reason of me slowing down lately with designing new patterns and drawing new tutorials. The lack of fresh beadweaving instructions doesn’t mean I am not working hard any more. The truth is that it’s pretty much the opposite. There’s a different project going on behind the scenes which needs my attention: I am working on a new website.
Yes, I know the current one is not so old and I got a lot of compliments from you (which I appreciate a lot, thank you so much!), but since I am far from a professional web designer, it didn’t take me long to starting to see the mistakes I made. So when the to-do list of the features to improve got overwhelming, I decided to start from scratch.
Below you can have a lookie of the new home page. Isn’t it already better?
Since redesigning the web over and over again is not my dream job (Hey, I try to be a beadwork artist, leave me alone with all the .html codes finally!), I needed a big deep breath and shifting into ZEN-mode to be able to continue. I have no time to freak out for more than five minutes and no intention to give up, so sometimes I need a bit of a push to keep walking. And while my family (especially the husband and the friends I call family) are a great support, there are times when I need something different.
And that’s when I turn to Arnie.
The actor, filmmaker, businessman, investor, author, philanthropist, activist, former professional bodybuilder and former politician Arnold Schwarzenegger goes by this familiar name between us for a long time now. In 1991 when Terminator II came out, my freshly divorced mum was trying to be the most awesome single parent she could be. It meant that she took my teen sister to see the newest movie to the cinema. On the other hand she didn’t have a solution for me (and probably didn’t know what we are going into), so I was on board, too. For your information I turned six that year.
Of course my mum covered my eyes when the Terminator was peeling off skin and flesh from his robotic arm, but seeing the movie meant that the family had to deal with me listening to Guns ‘n Roses as loud as our Soviet cassette player could go from a very early age of mine.
And instead of the fact that I didn’t get impressed by his further movies and I am not and never was into body building, Arnie was not forgotten. Two weeks ago my husband was coming home from a meeting with his new colleagues, and after dinner he showed me the video they watched earlier. According to his future boss watching the short film is the first step to get used to the company culture, and is obligatory for every new addition to the team. So whenever I get frustrated or too sluggish in my work, I turn to Arnie since then.
P.S. 1: I ignore the part about sleeping less. I am not productive and effective if I don’t rest enough.
P.S. 2: I never thought there will be a blog post on this page about Arnold Schwarzenegger. And well, here it is. That’s another proof everything is possible 😀 Do you also have a big plan for your future, which is not so easy to come true? How do you keep yourself motivated?

I loved that motivational video very much, thank you for sharing, Erika! It sure helps when feeling a bit bummed or tired.
Funny that you call him Arnie. We call him “Schwarzie”, in Switzerland. Not sure if it comes from the USA or from Austria, his country of birth.
wishing you success with the new website!

Hi Cath, thank you very much for stopping by!
I’m happy you like the video – it sure has a strong message. I hope it will help you any time you need a little bit of push.
Usually he is called “Schwarzie” here, too – just between us at home he is “Arnie” 🙂

Great post! I need to watch that video each Monday to motivate me for the week. I think the hardest rule to follow is ignoring the naysayers, especially when the biggest one is usually myself. Thanks or sharing!

Hi Kathy, I am so happy to see you here – and also that you liked the article 🙂 Arnold really has something to say with that speech, I think. I also decided to watch it regularly. Interesting thing is, that for me Monday is the easiest day – after the weekend I am full of energy and ideas. Than towards Thursday I usually get demotivated when I see the remaining long part of my to-do list. Probably I should focus more on the things completed, I think 🙂
