French Rococo in our newest Academy is a celebration of elegance, grace, and the joy of living. The beauty can be found in the smallest of details. From delicate pastel colors to intricate floral motifs, rococo design capture a sense of refinement and sophistication. Let the playfulness and joy fill your bead mat in upcoming weeks with these beautiful jewels from the ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ theme box!

If you are a Beadingschool Academy Student, I highly recommend starting to put together ‘mini kits’ for the jewels that you’d like to make!

This way you can make sure that you can finish everything that you’d like to. There are many possibilities to use the precious content of the Box, as not only the Beadingschool Creative Team, but fellow designers are also designing jewels for you, and sometimes you’ll need to make decisions how you’d like to use a component, or add something from your stash if you’d like to bead them all.

COUMARIN PENDANT BY ERIKA 

Let’s start right away with the first signature jewel of the Dangerous Liaisons Collection! The tutorial for this pendant, breaking records in the amount of cabochons that it contains, is included in all our Yellow, Turquoise, and Fuchsia Beadingschool Academy Student memberships.

For this Theme, I am selecting names for my jewels about ingredients for perfumes. A delicate art, just like jewellery making, and so fitting for the era – what do you think? Coumarin is a popular ingredient smelling like vanilla.

COUMARIN EARRINGS BY ERIKA 

Did you notice the ‘bail’ above the main part of the pendant? It’s perfect for a matching pair of earrings, extended by a pear-shaped glass cabochon.

ORRIS BRACELET BY ERIKA 

To make the first statement jewel, we will bead lots of bezels – including square stitch around the beautiful 16 mm Preciosa Nacre button cabochon. I designed this fun warm-up project for you to prepare for the ‘big one.’

AMYRIS EARRINGS BY ERIKA 

Amyris is a white flower from Tahiti, and sometimes it’s used in perfume art as the substitute for sandalwood. The motif named after it can become a gorgeous earring – with or without the chandelier component – a necklace, or even a brooch.

REGINA EARRINGS BY ERIKA 

From time to time, I love returning to our first #NoOneHasToBeadAlone designs! Our beaders love revisiting these and bead a new version – with their expanding skill sets, and new Beadingschool Academy Students get a chance to get to know these ‘oldies – goldies’ better. Regina is one of the most popular ones, and it can be beaded entirely from your Dangerous Liaisons Beadingschool Academy Theme Box.

ROSE DE MAI BRACELET BY ERIKA 

Rose de Mai is the distillation of a rose growing in a specific area of France. It’s rich, warm odor is a reminder of the sweetness of honey.

The petals created from PaisleyDuo beads bloom as the rose, and the motif can become either an earring or you can join several of them into a bracelet.

The fully blooming version of Rose de Mai deserves more attention – it features more PaisleyDuo beads, but also lots of sparkle on the edge!

FRANGIPANI BROOCH BY ERIKA 

Frangipani was created during the special edition of #CoffeeTimeWithErika, when fellow beaders chose the material for the design and I created and improvised live!

The flowers of Plumeria, also known as Frangipani, are highly fragrant especially at night, their scent is perceived to have smells from some flowers like jasmine, citrus, and gardenia and they are another of favorite ingredients used in perfumes.

TIEPOLO EARRINGS BY VERONIKA 

The inspiration for these jewels flew to my mind immediately after seeing the gorgeous metal components in the box. Colors and shapes just called for something elegant yet still playful, and of course shiny!

I named my jewels after famous rococo painters, and each jewel represents one painting. Tiepolo earrings pay tribute to Giambattista Tiepolo and his “The Marriage of the Emperor Frederick and Beatrice of Burgundy”. These earrings would match her wedding dress so well!

In this design you can also learn to play with RAW – try to switch things up a little and hop on the rococo playfulness!

ALCÁZAR PENDANT BY VERONIKA 

It’s time to see the second signature jewel of the Dangerous Liaisons Collection!

This jewel got its name after Luis Paret y Alcázar and his “Charles III. Dining Before the Court” – can you see those great beautiful picture frames on the wall? They look just like the fine carving of the unique filigree used in this pendant!

Do you want to learn a new way of working with filigrees? In this unusual tutorial, we will show you how to truly make them an irreplaceable part of your creations. We are very curious so please show us your finished pieces!

FRAGONARD BROOCH BY VERONIKA 

Jean-Honoré Fragonard, or better his “The Meeting” hides so much daring passion and cautious secrecy, that I think almost for sure, that the beautiful woman is wearing a warm colored brooch to secretly match with her admirer.

Do you believe in strengthening in the last steps? In this design, you can try thinking as a constructor or architect, building and strengthening his creation step by step with slightly unusual steps :-).

POMPADOUR PENDANT AND EARRINGS BY ZUZI 

Zuzi decided to name her jewels from ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ box after interesting prominent female personalities who made significant contributions to the cultural and social life of the time.

Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, known as Madame de Pompadour, was a mistress of King Louis XV and a powerful figure in the French court. She was a patron of the arts, influencing Rococo aesthetics, and played a significant role in the promotion of literature, music, and fashion during the era. Zuzi decided to call her pendant Pompadour also according to the bag style – a rounded shape characterized by elegant, ornate, and feminine design, which reflect the opulence and sophistication of the 18th-century French court.

You will learn a new way of decorating the Miyuki cotton ball and a new beaded bead as well!

GENLIS EARRINGS BY ZUZI 

Stéphanie Félicité, Comtesse de Genlis, was a writer, educator, and salonnière during the Rococo era. She played a role in the education of noble children and was known for her literary works and involvement in intellectual circles.

You can make a simple style Preciosa Nacre cabochon earstud, brooch, floral motif earrings or a bracelet from the Genlis design. The choice is yours!

GENLIS BROOCH BY ZUZI 

Zuzi says: ‘When I saw the inside of ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ Academy box and the Genlis design came to light, I started to think what else can be done with the motif. I kept looking and playing with the 4 Romance connectors and pear cabochons I inserted to the metal claws and it all started to come together. I let my thoughts to settle a bit as there were different options on how many of the cabochons and connectors to use and how to turn them – what gives a different, original look, of course. This can be a nice pendant, too.

GEOFFRIN EARRINGS BY ZUZI 

Marie Thérèse Rodet Geoffrin was a prominent salon hostess who gathered intellectuals, artists, and writers in her home. Her salon became a hub for Enlightenment thinkers and contributed to the dissemination of Rococo ideas.

Originally designed as a motif for the 25×33 mm ring filigree, a pair of earring or a brooch will look lovely as well. During our #NoOneHasToBeadAlone workshop you’ll learn a new bezel for the 11 mm Preciosa Chaton rose.

CECILE’S HEART EARRINGS

In the novel ‘Dangerous Liaisons’, Cecile de Volanges may start as a seemingly fragile character, but her journey through the story reveals her inner strength, kindness, and capacity for growth. She reminds us that even in a world filled with deceit and manipulation, there can still be pockets of innocence and goodness worth cherishing.

Our friend-designer, Ruxandra Puscas captured Cecile’s essence in her newest design we’re going to bead will show you how to work with large Rococo heart beads!

The last of Ruxi’s tutorials for ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ theme is a cute sparkly bezel  of the 10 mm low cut round glass cabochon in Miyuki seed beads hanged on a brooch finding.

This motif can also become:

  • pair of earrings
  • bracelet or necklace
  • connecting element in large jewel

    They are all beautiful but I am looking forward to POMPADOUR PENDANT BY ZUZI . When you showed that bauble in the reveal I immediately thought of doing something similar with it as a focal point in a necklace. Can’t wait!

    They are all incredible jewels, but my favorites and ones that I cannot wait to make are Erika’s Coumarin pendant and earrings, and Veronka’s Alcazar pendant. Well done everyone for making it so hard to choose favorites!!

    All of the designs are unique and beautiful, but I definitely have favorites! I love Erika’s Coumarin Pendant and Earring, as well as the Rose de Mai bracelet. Veronika’s Fragonard design is fabulous, both as a brooch and a bracelet motif. Zuzi’s Pompadour Pendant is wonderful. These are the designs that appeal to me most on first sight! However, I think I want to bead all of the jewels. Amazing designs, ladies! They are really representative of this theme. Well done!
