In the graceful flight of butterflies and dragonflies, we find solace, inspiration, and a profound appreciation for the wonders of the natural world. May their presence captured in the jewels we prepared bring you joy, peace, and a renewed sense of wonder.

If you are a Beadingschool Academy Student, I highly recommend starting to put together ‘mini kits’ for the jewels that you’d like to make!

This way you can make sure that you can finish everything that you’d like to. There are many possibilities to use the precious content of the Box, as not only the Beadingschool Creative Team, but fellow designers are also designing jewels for you, and sometimes you’ll need to make decisions how you’d like to use a component, or add something from your stash if you’d like to bead them all.

SIBYLLA BRACELET BY ERIKA

Sometimes we will bead ‘real’ butterflies, but there are moments when an implication is enough. That’s the case of the first signature jewel of the ‘The Dream of Sibylla’ collection. Named after Maria Sibylla Merian herself, this bracelet features lots of intricate details: the main parts (navettes surrounded by four PaisleyDuos) can be used either vertically or horizontally. With the navette turned horizontal, there is room for beautiful connections: Preciosa NAcre pearls adorned with lines of seed beads.

Everyone deserves to have a dream, right? Sibylla’s was to travel to Suriname and document plants, insect, and butterflies living there. I wonder how she felt as she was meeting new and new species!

This special pair of butterflies – just as a beading dream – can land on your bead mat, too. The tutorial will be my gift to every beader – a reminder of how important it is to dream!

AGLAIS EARRINGS BY ERIKA

When you look closely, then you can discover many hidden details in this cute motif, that’s going to be one of our #NoOneHasToBeadAlone workshops during the upcoming Theme. Just as in the wings of the Peacock butterflies! In the past we played a lot with Preciosa Nacre cabochons, but most of the time we started with square stitch bezels. It’s time to try something new!

VANESSA CARDUI EARRINGS BY ERIKA

The ‘Painted Lady’ butterfly, in Latin Vanessa Cardui can become a cute pair of earrings (or even a bracelet or necklace when several motifs are connected to each other) during a #NoOneHasTobeadAlone workshop.

PAPILIO PENDANT BY ERIKA

Besides the Sibylla bracelet this pendant is my favourite from the Dream of Sibylla Collection. Layers, texture, so many details that you need some serious time to absorb it all. I beaded it in two versions: both of them pendants, however, with a slight difference. The original colorway is hanging from the Blooming Flower connector, and has a more romantic vibe because of the silk ribbon. The second variation has more ‘drama.’ Thanks to the colours, but most importantly the beautiful component from Claspgarten that is a clasp and pendant holder in one. Instead of hiding it in the back it is now an important part of the whole design.

BUZZ BY VERONIKA

Little purple bees (or wasps) on this motif immediately called their buzzing friend, and that’s how the name for this jewel was immediately chosen :-).

MOSAIC FLOWER BY VERONIKA

Sun shining on this beaded flower reminds me of gorgeous colourful mosaic windows in cathedrals and churches, the light shining through and throwing little mosaic flowers on the walls inside.

As we are focusing this theme on the awesome little flying creatures, I thought a little bit differently about flowers. How do they see them? What do they think when they see little colourful yummy flower? I think we all know the answer! Hmm.. Buzz.. Candyy! 🙂

SALVIA BY ZUZI

Meadow Sage or Salvia is known for attractive and fragrant small purple flowers so appealing to all pollinators, including butterflies. This small Salvia motif by Zuzi reminds us of both, color and the shape of the flower and also butterfly thirsty for the nectar.

LANTANA BY ZUZI

Soft and delicate look of this design is connected in similarity with  flowers of Lantana. They have a sweet smell and attracts butterflies, dragonflies and also hummingbirds. Zuzi says:

I love to have at least one pot with Lantana growing at my balcony to be sure we have butterflies visiting in sunny days.

ZINNIA BY ZUZI

Zuzi says:

Zinnias are like vibrant bursts of happiness in a garden and they were my grandma’s favorite, along with daisies. They always attracted butterflies and if I think of summer memories from my childhood I used to spend with my grandma, they are always there – together.

Zinnias are known for wide range of different colors and delicate petals, they bring joy and beauty wherever they bloom. They are drawing butterflies with their vivid colors and sweet nectar, while creating a harmonious partnership that nurtures both flora and fauna.

CANDYING BY RUXI

The beautiful butterfly shape earring created by Ruxi has a chaton bezelled with peyote in the centre, decorated with paisleydous, bicones and firepolished bead.
