RED LAK earrings by Erika
Our first #NoOneHasToBeadAlone workshop using the material from the Lucia’s Light Box! The earring has an elegant, lacy effect, and while it’s sturdy when beaded with Fireline, it looks misleadingly fragile thanks to all the open spaces between the Miyuki Slender Bugle beads.

If you are a Beadingschool Academy Student, I highly recommend starting to put together ‘mini kits’ for the jewels that you’d like to make
to make sure that you can finish everything that you’d like to. There are many possibilities to use the precious content of the Box, as not only the Beadingschool Creative Team, but fellow designers are also designing jewels for you, and sometimes you’ll need to make decisions how you’d like to use a component, or add something from your stash if you’d like to bead them all.

SCARLET pendant by Erika
After the elegance and fragility of the Red Lak motif, here is another star: this time with edges, dimension, and a stronger ‘in-your-face’ presence than the first jewel I showed you in the article. Named after one of the best known red shades, the Scarlet tutorial will be the first signature jewel of the Lucia’s Light collection: included in all yellow, turquoise, and fuchsia Beadingschool Academy memberships. On top of the main motif, you’ll also receive the tutorial for the special bail as a gift!

+ extra beads and clasp for the necklace.
Optionally, you can bead a Peyote bail decorated with a 4 mm Preciosa sew-on rhinestone, and hang a beautiful charm under the main part.
ALIZARIN pendant by Erika
Glittering with exactly 100 pieces of Preciosa Crystals, this pendant is the crown jewel of the Lucia’s Light Collection. Starting with a square stitch bezel around a 8 mm cabochon, that later gets hidden below layers of other beads. Surprisingly time-efficient to bead, this pendant will slow you down only when you stop to look at it after each and every step to decide if you’d like to go further and bigger, or it’s already perfect as it is. The one big pendant tutorial brings you many options to create matching motifs for smaller earrings or necklace components in the same shades.
Alizarin Crimson is a bright red pigment – you can see it on the paintings of Johannes Vermeer (painter of the Girl with a pearl earring). He loved it for its dramatic effect.

CAPELLA pendant by Zuzi
Capella is the brightest star in the northern constellation of Auriga, it’s even brighter than our Sun, just the distance is counted into light-years from the Earth. Zuzi chose this design to be a pendant, however, it can be turned into statement earrings, full necklace or a Christmas ornament.

CARINA earrings by Zuzi
Carina earrings shows the variety of red tones from Lucia’s Light box. They represent the heat of the Carina nebula, that is home to some of the most luminous stars in the galaxy. The design can be divided into two parts, where the bezelled part has potential to become a bracelet or connector for larger jewels. The drop pendant is beaded and can be used as a separate drop for an earring.

A star-shaped design named after Cassiopeia constellation, can become also pendant, necklace or ornament to decorate your home.

SNOW WHITE bracelet by Veronika
“Skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony”. As soon as I saw the beautiful red shade of Nacre cabochons, they reminded me of little apples. And paired with white and black, a dramatic and festive Snow White bracelet appeared on my bead mat!

WHICH ONE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BEAD THE MOST?
I have enjoyed the other jewels from the theme boxes but Lucia’s Light has blown my mind on the BEAUTY AND SPARKLE-ABILITY (is this even a word?) of each and every jewel. This box hasn’t made it to me yet but i’ve been playing with the designs from my on-hand stash. the jewels don’t look near as pretty in other colors like they do with the reds–just my opinion. Never thought red could grab me the way it has in these jewels. Can’t wait to have all this collection made up!!!!! Thank you Erika and all the designers!!!! This theme is is so PERFECT for Christmas!!!!!!!!

I agree with Terry. I cannot pick a favorite jewel either. They are all so beautiful!!! You and Suzi and Veronika never cease to amaze me with all of your beautiful creations. I love each and everyone of them. I have to decide on at least one so that I can wear it for Christmas or New Years Eve. They are all so beautiful and thank you for all of your hard work ladies and all the beautiful jewels you design for us. I love you all and thank you again Erika you are the sweetest!!!!

Erika just when I think you can’t possibly out do the last designs from our theme you and Zuzi, Veronka and the other designers amaze me again! These designs are wonderful! I really cannot pick a favorite because I love them all! They are very festive for the season but will be lovely to enjoy anytime of the year!
