Beadingschool History Day

Another year has passed, and Beadingschool is celebrating its 3rd birthday this week!

It’s unbelievable how fast the time passed. I am so proud and happy with how much our amazing team and our enthusiastic beaders managed to do together and see the result of our work in jewels, relationships, mutual trust we built and share. Let’s look many years back to the (almost) very beginnings and refresh the historic moments that got us all to where we are now.

It all started a long ago, far earlier than this first photo of my old bead store in Bratislava, Slovakia, taken sometime in 2012. The love for beads and creating called for a place where we could bead and learn together.

2013 & 2014 – I was travelling to Beaders’ Best in Hamburg to present my shop I had at the time in Slovakia. I was making my own designs and started to create kits at that time, it was new and adventurous. I was also connecting with beaders, friends and designers. This time sharing the trip with Zuzi and meeting also Anna Lindell in the picture (along with other designers).

2018 – After moving to Amsterdam, I also restarted my beading studio. At first – as a corner in the living room. It kept growing and soon overtook a whole room in our home!

After a few years, I continued teaching in Amsterdam and Den Haag in The Netherlands. It was so nice to meet beaders face to face again!

 2019 – Visiting the USA and teaching at Bead&Button. What an experience!

A dog-sitting day with Edward the poodle! The little paws you could hear walking on our wooden floor many times when the pandemics hit in 2020 and #CoffeeTimeWithErika and #NoOneHasToBeadAlone started.

Moving my studio into a separate room! How exciting!

End of 2020 I believe. 

Meanwhile, the Treasury in Slovakia started to form and moved from our living rooms to a regular office space! We changed from the Storytelling Jeweller to Beadingschool in 2021. 

Me, Adam and Andrea, shortly before we launched the Beadingschool Academy with the first theme. Do you remember what it was? I think we look a bit tired but very enthusiastic 😀

2021 and one of the first big orders from Preciosa. 32kg of crystal beads and chatons! Yay! Even opening all the boxes was a big task. 

2022 as we were growing, we needed a larger space for the Treasury. Another move, and dedicated rooms for different tasks! 

We started to visit Jablonec and our business partners on a regular basis…

…discovering hidden treasures, ordering custom made components for our beaders.

2022, March – the 1st historic meeting of Beadingschool Unicorns in Slovakia – now it’s the three of us: Zuzi, Veronka, and me.

2022 – and celebrating the 1st Beadingschool birthday! Adam and me on the screen 😀

We’re growing together with you! More packages and Academy students need more hands in the Team to pack!

Unicorns together again in summer 2022 – this time Zuzi and Veronka visited Amsterdam so we got to know each other better, designed and enjoyed the time so much!

2023 – joining the Great British Bead Show was a great experience and honor. What a wonderful time with the Guild, the beading community and our friends!

2024 – we continue to build relationships and it’s not only us visiting Jablonec and Preciosa, but Preciosa visiting us in the Treasury!

We’re happy and continue making beading wishes true…
