Jewels from ‘Coral Garden’ box

We have a new box landing on our beadmats, ‘Coral Garden‘.  Let’s bead together the newest collection of Beadingschool Academy jewels!

You can bead these jewels from the May/June Theme Box of the Beadingschool Academy. As a Beadingschool Academy Student, you receive one or two signature jewel tutorials depending on your membership. Every Thursday, we bring you a #NoOneHasToBeadAlone workshop where you can use the same material. You can download these tutorials as gifts from Beadingschool for a limited time – 3 days after a workshop.

Additional tutorials will be available in the Bead Shop, and there might be more in beading magazines, and made by our friends – designers.

BECOME A STUDENT OF THE BEADINGSCHOOL ACADEMY!

If you are a Beadingschool Academy Student, I highly recommend putting together ‘mini kits’ for the jewels you’d like to make, according to our recent Blog article!

This way, you can make sure that you can finish everything that you’d like to. There are many possibilities to use the precious content of the Box, as not only the Beadingschool Creative Team but fellow designers are also designing jewels for you, and sometimes you’ll need to make decisions about how you’d like to use a component or add something from your stash if you’d like to bead them all.

MUGIRE BY ERIKA

This jewel is the second signature – part of the Fuchsia Beadingschool Academy membership.

Mugire means ‘below’ in Latin. With this jewel, I invite you to think about the balance between daring and keeping yourself safe.  Adventures and growth happen outside of our comfort zones… And when it comes to literal Coral Gardens, besides the feeling of being alive while diving in the deep sea, there are also so many colours to discover!

You need to believe that whatever comes your way, you will be able to solve it. You’ll never be alone. This new, exciting underwater world will feel like a gift. Just dare to jump into what seems from the surface like a cold and dark place full of threats and creatures you haven’t seen before, and might not know yet how to interact with. Mugire. You can’t yet imagine the beauties you’ll see – I promise they are there, and they are a lot more friendly, warm and welcoming when you actually see them face to face.

Invenio means ‘discovery’ in Latin. Life is full of revelations. Our caretakers, parents, and teachers do their best to hand us a map on how to live our lives well. However, the world is infinite, and generation by generation we discover new layers, new heights, new depths of it. And we need to dare to redraw the map, rewrite the rules, and embrace the freedom and possibilities that await us after we jump.

BLOOMING REEF BY ZUZI

Zuzi says: “Reef Bloom celebrates the magical diversity of the underwater world, where every coral branch, tiny creature, and drifting current brings a new combination of color and shape. Soft ocean blues, glowing pinks, sunny coral tones, and shimmering crystals come together like a miniature coral garden in full bloom. Let’s decorate another 7 mm Chaton Rose bezel, using the playful Gekko beads.”

LAGOON GLOW BY ZUZI

Zuzi says: “Lagoon Glow is inspired by the peaceful beauty of shallow tropical waters, where sunlight dances across soft waves and pastel reflections shimmer beneath the surface. The combination of the delicate beaded motif and sparkling cushion-cut bezel captures the feeling of hidden treasures resting in a quiet lagoon. Gentle ocean blues, seafoam tones, and warm coral hues blend together in a dreamy palette that reflects the calm, glowing atmosphere of sunlit coastal waters. POLYPETALS BY ANIKO

Aniko says: ‘Inspired by tiny coral polyps and the living blossoms of the ocean, gently swaying beneath the waves in an underwater garden. The design features eight petals, echoing the eight arms of a coral polyp, hence the name Polypetals. Each petal reflects the soft glow of pink corals, while at the center, a darker sparkle hints at hidden ocean depths. The result is a miniature underwater bloom, fragile, vibrant, and full of life. Polypetals celebrates the ocean’s smallest wonders, where even the tiniest forms create entire worlds of beauty.

In this project, beaders will learn how to create a quick and decorative bezel for an 8 mm Rivoli, as well as how to securely set a larger shaped bead so it sits neatly in place.

PARROTFISH BY LAURA

Laura says: ‘I love to see all the stunning arrays of tropical fish in aquariums, and it’s a treat to see them in nature when snorkelling! Stoplight parrotfish live in the warmer waters of the Atlantic and they have an unusual yellow accent on their tail. Their colours inspired these earrings. 

Beaders will learn to combine a novel combination of beads to surround the navette stones, creating a strong structure.’

CORAL BOUQUET OR BEE BY RUXANDRA

This jewel is the first signature – part of the Fuchsia, Turquoise, and Yellow Beadingschool Academy membership.

Ruxi says: ‘This beaded pendant grew from an exploration of perspective and transformation: depending on the placement of the bail, its silhouette shifts between an abstract bee and a delicate bouquet, giving rise to its double name. At its heart lies a luminous baguette cabochon. The design reflects how the slightest turn or change in orientation can completely alter meaning and perception. Structurally, the piece explores some interesting solutions for making a strong, almost separate bead construction based on long twist beads, stabilized through several layers of seed-bead “forts and contraforts.” These reinforcements ensure the pendant remains a sturdy, coherent whole, demonstrating how bead engineering can often coexist with poetic expression.’

A CUP OF SPARKLE BY RUXANDRA

Ruxi says: ‘A Cup of Sparkle features two beautiful raindrop cabochons rising from a structure formed by an abundance of varied crystals and beads that add brightness and depth to the design. Arranged in the shape of a cup and connected through different series of seed beads, these elements create a construction that is both light and secure. The pendant focuses on balance, bringing together different shapes and materials in a way that highlights sparkle without overwhelming the eye. It is a design that speaks of joy, optimism, and hope.’

FLOWER OF THE SEA BY GIULIANA

Giuliana says: ‘Thinking of a coral garden, I imagined a flower. A flower that does not belong to the earth, but is born from the slow breath of the sea. It is made of tiny marine creatures, as if a shallow, sunlit seabed gathered itself into a single living form, constantly shifting. Light descends from above and gently brushes against it, passing through. It rests on mottled pink, glows within touches of yellow, and breaks into shimmering fragments that echo the movement of water. Among its shapes, a hint of copper light emerges like an ancient secret, while opalescent touches capture the moment when everything vibrates, suspended between surface and depth. And so, the flower blooms—light and silent—at the water’s edge, there, in that quiet magic where the sea guards its most fragile wonders.’

LADY OF THE SEA BY GIULIANA

Giuliana says: ‘It is said that, in the shallow seabed where corals grow like submerged gardens, there once lived a Lady of the Sea. She was not a queen, but a gentle presence made of light and current, moving through the coral reefs like an ancient thought. Wherever she passed, the sea softened, and its creatures gathered into delicate forms, as if listening to her. It is said she loved to adorn herself with small treasures born of the water itself—fragments of turquoise like submerged sky, and coral pink like petals drifting through the sea. This pendant, in shades of tiffany and coral pink, belongs to that legend. Perhaps it became caught among the corals as she slowly drifted away with the tide. Or perhaps it was a gift left in the shallow waters, so that the sea would never forget her beauty. A fragment of a fairy tale, guarded by the seabed.’

CORAL KISS BY NITTI

Imagine seeing the ocean floor for the first time. Curious fishes swim by, the weight of water on your body, rocks and plants around you. Then you see the rays of the sun as they touch and kiss a coral reef… That is the feeling this design is attempting to present.

    So many pretty designs in this collection! If I had to choose a favorite it would be Blooming Reef by Zuzi, but I will be happy to bead as many of these beauties as possible! 😍😍😍
